Chesterfield, VA (August 20, 2020) – A man was killed by a drunk driver at the intersection of Meadowdale Boulevard and Hopkins Road in Chesterfield in the early morning hours of Sunday, August 16th.
Local law enforcement officers from the unincorporated community of Chesterfield said 20-year-old Francisco J. Beltran Perez was in a 2008 Honda Civic driving westbound along Meadowdale Boulevard at about 2:00 a.m. when he disregarded a traffic light and crashed into a 2012 Toyota Scion TC that was heading southbound along Hopkins Road.
The driver of the Toyota, 20-year-old Justus M. Taylor, a resident of Chesterfield, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Beltran-Perez was transported to a nearby medical facility with injuries that were classified as non-life-threatening. Chesterfield police officers stated that Beltran-Perez was given summonses for driving without a license and driving under the influence.
He is still in the hospital at this time.
Chesterfield Police reported on Thursday, August 20th that Beltran-Perez has been charged with driving under the influence and involuntary manslaughter. He was also served with a warrant for disregarding a traffic light and illegal possession of alcohol.
