Citrus County, FL (March 13, 2025) – A tragic accident on Wednesday claimed the life of a 50-year-old mother and Lecanto Middle School teacher, Krystal Jackson, while leaving her three children hospitalized.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), the crash occurred on West Homosassa Trail when a dump truck traveling west attempted to make a left turn, crossing into the path of Jackson’s eastbound minivan. The minivan reportedly collided with the back end of the dump truck.
Jackson died at the scene. Her two teenage daughters and 12-year-old son were transported to nearby hospitals for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the dump truck was not injured.
In a heartfelt Facebook post, Lecanto High School confirmed Jackson’s passing, describing her as a “beloved social studies teacher at Lecanto Middle School” and a former paraprofessional at Lecanto High School. The school encouraged the community to come together in support of her family.
Authorities continue to investigate the crash to determine all contributing factors.
Our deepest condolences go out to Krystal Jackson’s family, friends, and students during this devastating time.
