Clayton, NY – Two Men Hurt in Crash on Route 12 near County Route 181

Clayton, NY (July 3, 2023) – An automobile accident reported in the town of Clayton on Sunday morning resulted in injuries.

During the morning hours on July 2, authorities were called to the scene of an accident on Route 12.

Investigations determined that 37-year-old Caylen Churchill was operating a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado while traveling south on State Route 12. As the vehicle attempted to turn onto County Route 181, he became involved in a collision.

Churchill and a passenger in his vehicle, 18-year-old Dana Matthews, were both injured. Matthews was flown by helicopter to SUNY Upstate Medical Center for emergency care. Churchill was transported to River Hospital for treatment.

At this time, the police are investigating.
