College Park, MD (September 19, 2023) – A major disruption occurred during Tuesday morning’s commute when a tractor-trailer overturned on MD-50 near MD-197 at around 4:30 a.m.
Maryland State Police quickly arrived at the scene.
The truck driver lost control and another vehicle hit the truck.
Both drivers were rushed to the hospital but are anticipated to recover.
Westbound lanes remained blocked for hours, causing significant delays. Detours were established.
By 6:30 a.m., a single lane reopened, with traffic slowdowns persisting near MD-3/US-301. By 7 a.m.
The truck was moved to the road’s shoulder, but delays persisted until 7:30 a.m.
The investigation is still ongoing.
