Colonie, NY (September 22, 2021) – A 39-year-old man was hit and killed while riding a bicycle in the Colonie area. The fatal collision took place on Tuesday night, September 21st.

Police officials say that Jeremy Williams was cycling in the area where Central Avenue merges with the on-ramp to Interstate 87 Southbound around 8:30 p.m. A Chevrolet that was attempting to merge onto the interstate then struck Williams and knocked him off the roadway.

Emergency responders arrived at the scene and transported the victim to Albany Medical Center to be treated for severe injuries. Williams was pronounced deceased at the hospital the following day.

The driver of the Chevrolet was reported to have remained at the scene to assist authorities. There has been no word on any charges at this time.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.
