Colorado Springs, CO (September 13, 2023) – A sedan collided with a pickup truck near the Airport and South Academy at around 11 a.m. on Tuesday, September 12, 2023.
The powerful crash forced both vehicles off the road, scattering debris.
The sedan’s driver became trapped against a retaining wall.
CSFD Lt. Drew Cahill explained that rescuing the driver was challenging due to the car’s position.
Nevertheless, first responders freed him in 10 minutes, thanks to the nearby fire station’s proximity.
Only the sedan’s driver suffered serious injuries.
Meanwhile, the truck’s occupants had minor injuries.
Eastbound Airport Road at South Academy closed for hours but reopened later that day.
The investigation is still ongoing.
