Columbia, LA (September 18, 2023) – A fatal single-vehicle accident occurred on LA Hwy 133 near Bellview Lane shortly after 7 a.m. on Monday, September 18, 2023.
Melanie Gray, 60, and Brinkley Thomas, 43, both from Columbia, lost their lives in the crash.
The initial probe revealed that Gray drove the 2023 Hyundai Elantra north on LA Hwy 133.
The car veered off the road and hit a tree.
Gray, not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected and died at the scene.
Thomas, also unrestrained, succumbed to his injuries.
Toxicology samples have been taken to determine if impairment played a role.
The investigation is still ongoing.
