Columbus, MS – Head-On Collision During Police Chase Ends in Pickup Truck Driver Injury

Columbus, MS (July 28, 2023)- The chase ended at Main and 5th Street in downtown Columbus on the evening of July 26, 2023.

Near the state line on Highway 182, the Mississippi Highway Patrol attempted to pull over a truck driven by 22-year-old Tristan Blake Atkinson of Columbus.

Atkinson is accused of causing the injury of Ryan Jay Koehn, 26, who was driving another pickup truck when the two vehicles collided head-on.

Atkinson refused the trooper’s attempts to arrest him and led them on a high-speed chase through Columbus.

Koehn was taken by helicopter to North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo after sustaining injuries in the collision.

As of right now, Atkinson is still in the hospital.
