Columbus, MS (July 27, 2023)- One person was hurt, and Tristan Atkinson was arrested after a high-speed chase ended in a crash in Columbus on July 26, 2023.
Atkinson, driving a GMC truck pulling a trailer, eluded state troopers along Highway 182 and New Hope Road.
Atkinson crashed into a Ford truck, ending the pursuit at the intersection of 5th and Main Streets.
The driver of a Ford truck sustained life-threatening injuries and was flown to North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo.
Atkinson was arrested after being examined at a hospital.
He’s been charged with felony fleeing and various traffic offenses.
The operation was a joint effort between state troopers, Columbus police, Columbus firefighters, and Lowndes County sheriff’s deputies.
