Commerce City, CO (September 19, 2023) – Late Friday night, a devastating crash occurred on Highway 2 close to 72nd Avenue.
The collision claimed the life of a 38-year-old female driver and her 56-year-old female friend.
A 9-year-old boy, the driver’s son, is critically injured and remains in the hospital.
Another vehicle involved was driven by a 17-year-old boy, who also sustained injuries and is hospitalized.
The initial investigation suggests the woman’s vehicle was turning left onto East 72nd Avenue when it was struck by the teen’s southbound car on Highway 2.
Authorities are probing if speed contributed to the crash and considering potential charges.
The investigation is still ongoing.
