Concourse Village, NY (May 08, 2021) – An apartment fire in the Bronx apartment left one woman dead and at least 11 others injured on Wednesday, May 5th.

A firefighter who sustained non-critical injuries and two civilians with critical injuries were among the 11 victims who were injured in the fire.

Sources reported that at about 5:00 a.m., FDNY crews were notified of a fire on the second floor of a six-story apartment building on Park Avenue in the area of East 161st Street in Concourse Village. 

130 firefighters from more than 30 units responded to the scene.

A 91-year-old woman who was rescued unconscious and in critical condition was pronounced dead at the hospital.

At least 11 civilians and one firefighter were also injured. The most critical victims were 54 and 60-years-old. 

It was determined that the fire was started by an electric scooter that was charging in the kitchen of one of the units.
