Coventry, NY (May 11, 2020) – One person was killed in a collision with a tractor-trailer on Saturday night, May 9th, in the town of Coventry. The fatal accident was reported at around 9:51 p.m. at the intersection of NY 206 and NY 235.
According to responding troopers, Firefighters and paramedics were dispatched to the scene after a Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck and a tractor-trailer collided at the intersection. The driver of the pickup truck, identified as William J. Derosa Jr., 52, of Islip Terrace was traveling with two children, ages 7 and 12, and one adult passenger, Michelle Lieberman, 46, of Smithtown.
Emergency crews pronounced Lieberman deceased at the scene and transported both children to Wilson Hospital. Derosa’s injuries were reported as minor and there was no word concerning the conditions of the children.
Robert M. Anderson, 64, of Lisle, the driver of the tractor-trailer, was not hurt in the accident. The events that led to this incident remain under investigation.
