Dallas, MO (October 18, 2024) – A serious traffic incident occurred on Highway 73 at Highway E on Friday morning, resulting in multiple injuries. At approximately 10:50 a.m., emergency responders were called to the scene following reports of a collision involving two vehicles.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the accident involved a 2018 Honda Fit and a 2013 Dodge Ram. The Honda Fit, driven by 74-year-old Beatrice Salazar from Kansas City, was traveling westbound when it failed to stop at a posted stop sign, entering the path of the northbound Dodge Ram driven by 61-year-old William Dawson from Fulton. The impact resulted in extensive damage to both vehicles, with the Honda Fit being declared a total loss.
Emergency responders arrived promptly to assess the situation and provide medical assistance. A juvenile female occupant in the Honda Fit, aged 3, sustained moderate injuries and was transported by air medical services to MU University Hospital in Columbia for further evaluation. Additionally, both Beatrice Salazar and another occupant, 74-year-old Patricia Muzquiz, were transported by ambulance to Mercy Hospital in Springfield with serious injuries.
