Dalton, GA (May 22, 2023) – Police in Georgia said a woman was killed when a metal rod smashed through the window of her automobile last Wednesday, May 16, and have now identified the victim.
Lynn Ann Fleming, a resident of Buford, was a passenger in a 2020 Toyota Highlander traveling along Interstate 75 near Dalton.
Troopers with the Georgia State Patrol reported that a metal pole flew at the vehicle while it was heading south in the center lane, smashing the passenger-side windshield.
Fleming sustained major injuries as a result of the incident. A Life Force helicopter landed on the roadway and medical professionals attempted to save Fleming, but she was declared dead at the scene, according to the GSP.
The GSP is still looking into how the accident took place but has not provided additional details. An investigation remains active.
