Damascus, VA (April 7, 2023) – One man lost his life in a motor vehicle accident that occurred on Saturday evening in Washington County.
At around 11:15 p.m. on April 1, emergency crews were dispatched to provide assistance on-site at a crash that occurred on US Highway 58, Jeb Stuart Highway.
According to reports, a collision between a 2010 Chrysler PT Cruiser and a 2014 Subaru Impreza occurred on the highway near Virginia State Route 787. The incident caused severe delays in the area as emergency crews shut down the road.
The driver of the Chrysler, identified as 47-year-old Jerry Vanhuss, was fatally injured in the crash. He was pronounced deceased on-site by responding law enforcement.
The Subaru driver, 18-year-old Ashton Barry, was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries.
At this time, the incident remains under investigation.
