Dayton, MN (October 27, 2024) – A tragic accident occurred early this morning on Eastbound Interstate 94 at Brockton Lane, resulting in a fatality. The incident was reported at approximately 5:26 AM and involved two vehicles.
According to preliminary reports, a 2020 Ford Escape struck a deer and came to a stop in the center lane of Eastbound 94. Shortly thereafter, a 2016 Mazda CX-5 rear-ended the Ford Escape. Emergency services were dispatched to the scene, where the driver of the Mazda was transported to the hospital for treatment. Unfortunately, the driver of the Ford Escape was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The road conditions at the time of the accident were dry, which may have contributed to the circumstances of the collision. Authorities from the Maple Grove Police Department, Dayton Police Department, North Memorial Ambulance, and Maple Grove Fire were involved in the response and investigation of the incident.
The identities of the drivers involved are expected to be released later today, as authorities continue to notify next of kin.
