Daytona Beach, FL (May 13, 2025) – A fatal rollover crash on westbound Interstate 4 in Volusia County claimed the life of one woman and left four others seriously injured late Monday morning. The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) responded to the scene of the wreck, which occurred around 10:49 a.m. near mile marker 125 in the Daytona Beach area.
According to the FHP report, a 2018 Lincoln Navigator traveling westbound on I-4 veered off the road into the center median. The SUV struck a tree and rolled over multiple times before coming to a stop. The force of the crash caused extensive damage to the vehicle and severely injured its occupants.
Among the five people inside the vehicle, a 54-year-old woman from Hoboken, Georgia, was pronounced dead at the scene, and the 61-year-old male driver, also from Hoboken, and three other passengers were transported with serious injuries to Halifax Health Medical Center in Daytona Beach.
FHP has not released the names of those involved, and the exact cause of the crash remains under investigation. The westbound lanes of I-4 were significantly backed up at midday as emergency crews worked to clear the scene and transport victims.
We extend our deepest condolences to the family of the woman who lost her life and wish the injured individuals a swift and full recovery.
Rollover Accidents on Florida Highways
Rollover crashes are among the most dangerous types of vehicle accidents, especially when high speeds and large SUVs are involved. The crash on I-4 highlights the extreme risks drivers face when vehicles lose control and strike fixed objects such as trees or median barriers.
SUVs like the Lincoln Navigator, while designed for comfort and passenger capacity, are more prone to rolling over in off-road scenarios or during abrupt swerving, especially at highway speeds. These crashes often result in severe injuries or fatalities due to the violent nature of multiple rollovers and potential ejection if occupants are not properly restrained.
In this tragic incident, five individuals from the same community were affected. The crash has left one family mourning the loss of a loved one and several others facing hospitalization and recovery.
Florida Highway Patrol continues to examine contributing factors such as driver fatigue, distraction, mechanical failure, or weather conditions. In the meantime, affected families are left to deal with the emotional, physical, and financial consequences of such a sudden and violent event.
If you or someone you know has been involved in a serious rollover crash, it is critical to seek both medical care and legal support to manage the aftermath effectively.
