DeKalb Co, GA (April 16, 2021) – A crash involving a tractor-trailer caused a highway sign to fall on Interstate 285 on Monday morning, leaving one driver injured and the highway closed for hours.

All lanes of I-285 southbound after the East Ponce De Leon Highway were closed for around eight hours. A mangled tractor-trailer was photographed wrapped around the signpost, and DeKalb County Fire officials confirmed that one of the drivers involved was transported to the hospital in critical condition. It’s unclear if the driver was injured in the wreck or from the sign falling.

The investigation is ongoing, and no further details about the events leading up to the wreck have been released.
