Deming, NM (July 21, 2021) – A total of three 18-wheelers and an SUV were involved in a fatal collision that took place on Interstate 10 in Luna County. The deadly accident happened on Tuesday night, July 20th, between Las Cruces and Deming.
According to local authorities, a tire blew off the SUV near mile marker 105 and into the path of a tractor-trailer. The truck struck the tire and overturned before crashing into two other tractor-trailers. Emergency crews were dispatched to the scene where they worked to assist all those involved.
The driver of the semi that overturned, identified as Daniel Quintana, 37, of Las Cruces, was pronounced deceased at the scene. Authorities did not report any other injuries as few other details are available.
The events that led to the crash are under investigation.
