Des Moines, IA (September 18, 2023) – A fatal crash occurred on I-235 early Monday, September 18, 2023, claiming a man’s life.

The Des Moines Police received reports of a pedestrian hit on I-235 at 5:20 a.m.

Upon arriving at the 11.6-mile marker, officers found a 27-year-old man critically injured.

Despite immediate life-saving efforts, he later died at MercyOne-Des Moines.

The victim’s identity remains undisclosed.

I-235’s northbound lanes closed after the accident but partially reopened at 7:00 a.m.

By 8:36 a.m., all lanes were clear as crews concluded their on-site investigation.

The investigation is still ongoing.
