Detroit, MI (September 18, 2023) – Four individuals, including a trooper, sustained injuries when an SUV crashed into an MSP car during a traffic stop early Sunday, September 17, 2023.
At 12:50 a.m. near Fenkell Avenue on the southbound Southfield Freeway, the trooper stood outside his car conducting a traffic stop.
A speeding SUV rear-ended the patrol car, launching it into the air.
The SUV hit the trooper, and the two individuals initially stopped.
Injuries evaluated for the trooper include a possible torn Achilles.
The other three victims suffered non-critical injuries and received hospital treatment.
The SUV’s driver acted aggressively and uncooperatively at the crash site, prompting police to seek an impaired driving warrant.
The investigation is still ongoing.
