Dunkirk, NY (March 17, 2023) – At approximately 9:05 p.m. on Thursday night, March 16th, authorities with the New York State Police were dispatched to the scene of a serious personal injury crash between a tractor-trailer and a passenger vehicle. The incident occurred on Interstate 90 in the town of Dunkirk.
According to a preliminary investigation, 34-year-old Rashaun T. David, of Buffalo, was operating a 2013 Hyundai Sonata when he collided with a westbound 2015 Freightliner tractor-trailer near mile marker 468.6. David was ejected from the Sonata due to the impact of the crash and suffered severe injuries as a result.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene, where they airlifted David to UPMC Hamot in Erie, PA. At this time, he is listed in critical condition.
The driver of the tractor-trailer, identified as 47-year-old Mohamed A. Ahmed of Minneapolis, MN, was not injured in the collision. The events that triggered the accident remain under investigation.
