Eagle Grove, IA – Fatal Crash on IA-17 South of Eagle Grove Results in One Death

Eagle Grove, IA (November 20, 2023) – A fatal crash occurred on IA-17, south of Eagle Grove, early on Saturday, November 18, at around 12:30 AM. Jose Casiano, 36, from Webster City, IA, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Casiano was driving erratically on IA-17 when a Wright County deputy attempted to stop his vehicle. The 2012 Mercedes GL4 car fled at high speeds, estimated at 130 mph, but failed to navigate a curve and crashed into a ditch. Casiano was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle.

The incident is under investigation by the Wright County Sheriff’s Office, with assistance from Eagle Grove Fire Department, EMS, and Hennigars Towing. Further details will be released as the investigation continues.
