East Columbus, OH (September 18, 2023) – A child died after a vehicle struck them in East Columbus on Sunday, September 17, 2023.

The incident occurred around 7 p.m. in the 2000 block of East 6th Avenue.

A Ford pickup truck stopped at a home, and several children exited.

As the truck left, a child darted in front and got hit.

Rescuers rushed the child to Nationwide Children’s Hospital, where they declared the child dead at 7:56 p.m.

The Accident Investigation Unit is reviewing the event.

The investigation is still ongoing.
