East Los Angeles, CA (March 24, 2025) – Authorities have identified the man killed in a fiery, multi-vehicle crash early Saturday morning in East Los Angeles as 26-year-old Anthony Medina. The collision occurred on the I-5 Freeway at the E Cesar Chavez Ave offramp at approximately 12:19 a.m. on March 22, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The crash involved three vehicles—a Tesla, a BMW, and a Nissan. Investigators report that following the collision, the Nissan caught fire. Despite emergency responders arriving quickly to the scene, Anthony Medina, who was driving the Nissan, tragically died in the accident. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
CHP officers confirmed that the driver of the BMW was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence. The role of each vehicle in the crash remains under investigation, and no additional injuries were reported as of Monday morning.
Fire crews worked to extinguish the vehicle fire while CHP shut down parts of the offramp to conduct their investigation and clear the wreckage. The offramp remained closed for several hours overnight.
