East Millinocket, ME (March 21, 2025) – A tragic crash on Main Street in East Millinocket claimed the life of a 66-year-old Medway woman and left a child in serious condition.
According to the East Millinocket Police Department, the woman was driving when she crossed the center line into the path of an oncoming service truck. She then attempted to swerve back into her lane, but the truck, which was trying to avoid a collision, struck her vehicle. The impact caused the car to sustain heavy front-end damage and caused the truck to roll over.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene and transported the woman and two children, ages six and eight, to Millinocket Regional Hospital. The woman and one of the children, who had sustained severe injuries, were then airlifted via LifeFlight to Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor. The woman later succumbed to her injuries, while the child remained hospitalized in serious condition.
The second child sustained minor injuries, while the driver of the service truck, a 35-year-old Millinocket man, declined medical treatment at the scene.
Authorities closed the roadway for several hours as police conducted an investigation. Officials from the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office, Maine Warden Service, and Maine State Police assisted in the response.
The crash remains under investigation.
