East Sacramento, CA (January 14, 2025) – A fatal traffic accident occurred early Tuesday morning on State Route 16 in the East Sacramento area, near the 15750-15899 block. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported the incident at approximately 6:14 AM.
Emergency responders, including CHP officers and Sacramento Fire and Rescue teams, were dispatched to the scene. Tragically, at least one person was pronounced deceased as a result of the collision. The identity of the victim is being withheld pending notification of their next of kin.
Portions of SR-16 were temporarily closed in the vicinity of the accident as authorities conducted their investigation and cleared the roadway. Motorists were advised to expect delays and use alternate routes. CHP continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
