El Paso, TX ( July 7, 2023) – According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, a fatal head-on collision occurred on Wednesday, July 5th, 2023, on Interstate 10 near Sierra Blanca.
The crash resulted in the loss of two individuals: a 39-year-old man from Horizon City and a 60-year-old man from Fort Hancock.
As per DPS reports, Miguel Angel Soto, aged 60, was driving a westbound Jeep Wrangler in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 10 around 2:47 a.m.
Hermes Ivan Balderrama, aged 39, was driving an eastbound Ford F250 Pickup truck and collided head-on with the Jeep Wrangler.
Both vehicles were traveling in the same direction.
During the collision, Soto was ejected from the vehicle.
The Justice of the Peace for Hudspeth County pronounced both drivers deceased at the accident scene.
A 41-year-old passenger in the pickup truck at the time of the collision was taken to a nearby hospital for medical treatment after the accident.
