Enfield, NY – Pedestrian Dies After Being Struck by Car on  Mecklenburg Rd

Enfield, NY (June 06, 2021) – A pedestrian died after they were struck by a car on Wednesday, June 2nd in Enfield.

Tompkins County Sheriff’s Deputies reported to the scene on Mecklenburg Road in the area of Halseyville Road at about 7:45 p.m. after receiving reports of a car striking a pedestrian. 

Upon their arrival, officers located the pedestrian lying in the roadway, already dead. Nearby was a 2005 Ford Escape with damage to its front-end.

Eyewitness statements and a preliminary investigation have shown that the Ford was driving in the westbound lanes of Mecklenburg Road when it collided with the pedestrian.

No names have been released and police have not said if the driver will be charged.

The Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on scene by the New York State Police Accident Reconstruction Team and Enfield Volunteer Fire Company.
