Erie Township, PA (July 18, 2023) – According to Pennsylvania State Police, a crash near Erie, Pennsylvania, killed a Webster woman and injured several others on Sunday, July 16, 2023.
A pickup hit an SUV at a New York state line intersection in North East Township before 10 a.m.
The Roman Catholic Diocese of Rochester confirmed that all four SUV passengers were Sisters of Mercy.
One passenger, 79-year-old Sister Arlene Semesky, died.
The driver, Sister Joanne Deck, 75, was flown to a hospital in critical condition.
The car’s other sisters were hospitalized with minor injuries.
The two children in the truck were taken to an area hospital for evaluation.
The pickup driver and adult passenger were uninjured.
The crash investigation continues.
