Eufaula, AL (October 24, 2024) – A tragic accident occurred early on the morning of October 23, resulting in the death of a Phenix City man. At approximately 6:30 a.m., 20-year-old Christian Amaya-Marquez was involved in a two-vehicle crash on U.S. 431, near the 57-mile marker, approximately eight miles south of Eufaula.
According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA), Marquez was driving a 2007 Jeep Liberty when he left the roadway and collided with a parked 2018 Freightliner Cascadia tractor-trailer. Despite the swift response from emergency services, Marquez was pronounced dead at the scene. The exact circumstances leading to the crash have not yet been disclosed, and ALEA is currently conducting an investigation into the incident.
