Eugene, OR (December 9, 2024) – A tragic collision on Saturday afternoon resulted in the death of a teen athlete and left four others injured. Emergency responders from Eugene Fire and Rescue were quick to the scene after the crash occurred just before 4 p.m. at the intersection of River Rd and Beacon Dr. The crash involved a Toyota Corolla and a Chevy Suburban, both of which sustained significant damage. Inside the Toyota were five teenagers, one of whom, Easton Bounds, tragically lost his life. The other teens were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment of a variety of injuries, though their conditions have not been disclosed.
The driver of the Chevy Suburban, who was the only person in the vehicle, remained at the scene and is cooperating with authorities. The cause of the crash is still under investigation, as officials have not yet determined what led to the collision.
