Fairmount, GA (September 19, 2023) – A tragic hit and run occurred on Sunday, September 17, 2023, around 2 p.m. on Georgia State Route 61.
A Ford F-150, traveling north at high speeds, struck multiple motorcyclists.
One motorcycle lodged in the truck’s front, but the driver didn’t stop.
A witness pursued until police intervened six miles away.
The crash scene stretched about 1,000 feet, closing the road for over two hours.
Three motorcyclists were airlifted, two others went by ambulance, and one didn’t survive.
Not yet identified, the truck driver faces charges including DUI, vehicular homicide, and reckless driving.
The injured motorcyclists’ conditions remain uncertain.
The investigation is still ongoing.
