Wrongful Deaths in New York

Farmingville, NY - Kevin Buttigieg Killed in Motorcycle Crash on Lakeside Dr

After four decades of practicing law in New York, our experienced wrongful death lawyers understand the most effective ways to find proof that supports the victim’s version of events and ensures that their surviving family members collect the compensation to which they are entitled.

In order for your wrongful death case to have a successful outcome, you will have to prove that:

  • The negligent party owed the deceased a duty of care
  • The negligent party violated that duty by acting recklessly or negligently
  • The negligent party’s violation of duty was the cause of the victim’s passing
  • The negligent’s party’s violation also resulted in economic damages

The only way to prove these elements are present in your case is to gather as much relevant evidence as you possibly can; a task that is both challenging and time-consuming.

After losing a loved one in a careless, reckless, or otherwise negligent New York pedestrian accident by no fault of the victim, it may feel like no amount of compensation could make you feel complete again. While it is true that no financial restitution can ever fully make up for your losses, filing a wrongful death claim against the responsible party or parties can go a long way toward helping you find some semblance of peace again.
