Farmingville, NY – Three Injured in DUI Accident on County Rte 83

Farmingville, NY (September 26, 2020) – Around 5 p.m. on Friday, September 25, three people were injured in a DUI accident in Farmingville.

Suffolk Police confirmed that the accident took place after a woman’s vehicle, identified as a 2015 Honda, became disabled in the right lane of County Route 83 just north of South Bicycle Path. The driver was identified as 31-year-old Erika Bautista, who had three daughters in her vehicle as well.

A 2018 Jeep was being operated in the area by 36-year-old Chris Montpetit. As he came upon the Honda in the right lane, he struck the rear of the vehicle because he was unable to stop in time.

Bautista and two of her daughters, identified as a 4-year-old and an 8-year-old, were taken to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of serious injuries. Her 10-year-old daughter received minor injuries.

Montpetit remained at the scene and was charged with driving while intoxicated.

Police continue their investigation into the accident at this time.
