Fayetteville, GA (February 24, 2023) – The Fayetteville Police Department is conducting an investigation into how an 83-year-old man died in a collision on Wednesday afternoon, February 22.
At about 2:00 p.m., the police were summoned to investigate a suspicious incident reported by witnesses in the area. They discovered that two vehicles collided at the crossroads of Highway 85 northbound and Promenade Parkway upon their arrival, but the circumstances surrounding that accident remain unknown.
A Jonesboro man was transported to Piedmont Fayette Hospital, where he died of his injuries. A 40-year-old woman, also from Jonesboro, was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. She is expected to recover.
The police were gathering evidence throughout the day on Wednesday and said any witnesses who saw the collision should call Officer P. McDonald. An investigation remains active at this time.
