Fitchburg, WI (December 13, 2024) – Two individuals sustained injuries, one of whom required hospitalization, following an apartment fire on Thursday morning at 4520 Thurston Lane. The Fitchburg Fire Department responded to the scene around 5:25 a.m., reporting visible smoke in the first and second-floor hallways of the building.
The fire was located in the bathroom of a second-floor apartment and had begun spreading to an adjacent unit before firefighters contained it to the two affected apartments. The fire was extinguished swiftly, preventing further damage to the building.
Paramedics evaluated two occupants for fire-related injuries, and one was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Several residents were displaced due to smoke and fire damage. Temporary shelter was provided by Metro Transit and the Boys and Girls Club, with the Red Cross assisting displaced residents.
The fire’s origin and cause remain under investigation.
