Dade City, FL (April 7, 2020) – A fatal accident took place in Dade City on US-98 that took the life of one child, according to police. Four other individuals were also hurt in the crash.
The accident was responded to by the Polk’s County Sheriff’s Office. The accident occurred when a woman, aged 31, was headed northbound, attempting to pass another car. She was forced to swerve in an attempt to avert an accident, and as she did she drove off of the left side of the roadway and into the woods, where she then hit a tree.
A 19-month-old was pronounced deceased at the scene of the accident. Two other children, a 31-year-old passenger, and the driver of the vehicle suffered broken bones and other injuries. They were transported to nearby medical centers for treatment.
The investigation remains open and ongoing.
