Glades County, FL (May 6, 2020) – An unidentified man from Zephyrhills was killed in a roadside accident that occurred in Glades County this past Monday.
The crash took place around 12:45 p.m. Monday, May 4 when a 54-year-old man was riding inside a machine that was placing roadway reflectors down on State Road 78 near Hunter Road. He was suddenly struck by a passing SUV driven by a 21-year-old man from Okeechobee.
The SUV hit a guardrail after striking the man and then came to a final stop. The 54-year-old man working construction was pronounced deceased at the scene of the collision.
There is no word whether or not the man driving the SUV sustained any injuries in the crash.
The deceased victim nor the driver who struck him have currently been identified and it is unclear whether any charges will be filed.
An investigation into the crash and its circumstances will continue.
