Fort Myers, FL (March 12, 2025) – A tragic crash on Gladiolus Drive early Wednesday morning resulted in the death of a 17-year-old girl and left multiple others injured.
According to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, the two-vehicle collision occurred at approximately 6:48 a.m. at the intersection of Gladiolus Drive and Maida Lane. Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) troopers responded to assist local authorities in the investigation.
FHP reports indicate that an 18-year-old driver was traveling east in a sedan with the 17-year-old passenger when they approached a red traffic signal at Maida Lane. The impact redirected the SUV into a wastewater lift station, while debris from the crash damaged a parked vehicle nearby.
Emergency responders worked quickly to provide aid at the scene. The 17-year-old passenger in the sedan tragically succumbed to injuries. The 18-year-old driver of the sedan and the driver of the SUV both sustained serious injuries and were transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Authorities closed all eastbound and westbound lanes of Gladiolus Drive until 10:35 a.m. while they investigated and cleared the scene. The Florida Highway Patrol continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
