Franklin County, VA (May 14, 2023) – A man lost his life as a result of a car crash that took place in Franklin County on Wednesday, May 10.
At approximately 4:25 p.m., the Virginia State Police troopers were called to the scene of a crash on Route 220 in Franklin County.
Reports from authorities show that a 2015 Toyota RAV4 was exiting the Carilion Clinic. As the vehicle crossed over the northbound lanes of the roadway, it collided with a 2014 Honda Civic.
One person involved in the accident, identified as 87-year-old Robert Montgomery, was severely hurt. He was pronounced deceased at the scene due to his injuries.
A second person involved in the crash, 25-year-old Jeremy Quarles, was transported to Roanoke Memorial Hospital. A third victim, identified as Caroll Montgomery, was transported to the same hospital for emergency care.
At this time, the incident remains under investigation.
