Virginia Pedestrian Accidents
Safety is a shared responsibility of everyone traveling on the road at any given time. Drivers need to be alert and pay close attention to their surroundings at all times. Pedestrians also need to be vigilant in their safety precautions while traveling by wearing light and/or reflective clothing and utilizing sidewalks and crosswalks whenever possible. Virginia saw an approximate 92% increase in pedestrian deaths in people aged 51 or older between 2018 and 2019. This spike in Virginia pedestrian accidents could be attributed to cell phones and distracted driving, which is the leading cause of traffic accidents in the United States.
