Fred, TX (October 24, 2024) – A tragic accident occurred this morning on Farm-to-Market Road 92, resulting in a fatality. Shortly before 7 a.m. on October 23, the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) responded to the scene of a two-vehicle collision north of Fred.
Preliminary investigations indicate that a 2015 Ram 3500 was traveling north on FM 92 when a 2009 Chevrolet HHR attempted to exit a private drive and turn left onto the roadway. Reports suggest that the driver of the Chevrolet failed to yield the right-of-way, leading to a collision with the Ram.
The driver of the Ram, identified as 24-year-old Shylee Eddings from Silsbee, was transported to Christus Memorial Southeast with possible non-life-threatening injuries. Unfortunately, the driver of the Chevrolet, 62-year-old Thomas O'Kane of Fred, was pronounced dead at the scene.
