Fresno, CA (September 13, 2023) – Thomas Zapata Jr., 70, was fatally struck by a car on August 26 at the intersection of East Bullard Avenue and North First Street.

The crash happened around 5:30 p.m.

Turning from westbound Bullard Avenue onto northbound First Street, a teen driver hit Zapata in a crosswalk.

A 911 call reported the accident, leading to an emergency response.

Rescuers found Zapata with severe injuries.

He was rushed to Community Regional Medical Center in critical condition but died on September 6.

The teen driver is cooperating with the police.

The investigation is still ongoing.
