Fresno County, CA (January 12, 2025) – A tragic collision involving two vehicles resulted in four fatalities and left two others injured late Friday evening at the intersection of Shaw and Floyd Avenues in Fresno County. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) is investigating the incident, which occurred just after 10:30 PM.
According to authorities, a van heading south on Floyd Ave was pulling out of a two-way stop when it collided with a westbound Nissan Altima traveling on Shaw Ave. The impact caused the Nissan to crash into the driver’s side of the van, flipping the van onto its side. Both vehicles caught fire as a result of the collision.
CHP officers confirmed that the driver and one passenger in the van, along with the driver and one passenger of the Nissan Altima, died at the scene due to their injuries. Two male passengers in the Nissan managed to escape the burning vehicle with moderate injuries, while two other passengers inside the van suffered minor injuries.
Emergency responders provided care to the injured individuals, who were transported to local hospitals for treatment. The identities of the victims have not yet been released, and family notifications are pending.
Authorities are investigating whether alcohol or drugs contributed to the crash.
