Fultonville, NY – Rodney Schrell Jr & Catherine Griffin Killed in Apartment Fire on Main St

Fultonville, NY (August 31, 2020) – Two people were killed and nearly a dozen others left homeless after an apartment fire that tore through a complex in the town of Fultonville. The fatal incident was reported at around 10:30 p.m. on Sunday night, August 30th, inside an apartment located at 33 Main Street.

According to officials with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, firefighters from multiple departments responded to the scene. Crews worked into the early morning hours to extinguish the blaze inside the building that housed six units and 13 residents.

Emergency medical responders confirmed that two residents, identified as Rodney Schrell Jr., 32, and Catherine Griffin, 26, died in the fire. The other 11 residents have been displaced and no further information was reported.

The events that led to this incident remain under investigation.
