Gallatin, MO (March 14, 2025) – A two-vehicle collision at the intersection of MO-6 and 239th St., just west of Gallatin, left one woman injured on Thursday afternoon.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at approximately 12:05 p.m. when a 1997 Ford F-150, driven by a 47-year-old woman from Gallatin, failed to yield while crossing MO-6. As a result, a westbound 2019 GMC Sierra, driven by a 55-year-old woman from Trenton, struck the Ford on the driver’s side.
The impact caused both vehicles to come to a stop on their wheels. The driver of the Ford sustained injuries and was transported by Community Ambulance District to Cameron Regional Medical Center. The driver of the GMC Sierra was not reported injured.
The Ford F-150 sustained minor damage and was able to be driven from the scene, while the GMC Sierra was heavily damaged and had to be towed by Bridgeman’s. Authorities continue to investigate the incident.
We wish the injured woman a full and speedy recovery.
Failure-to-Yield Accidents in Missouri
Failure-to-yield crashes are a common cause of intersection collisions in Missouri. When a driver does not properly yield the right-of-way at stop signs or crossings, it increases the risk of serious T-bone or side-impact crashes. These accidents can be especially dangerous because the sides of vehicles offer less protection compared to the front and rear.
Missouri law requires all drivers to stop and yield to oncoming traffic when crossing or turning onto highways. Failure to do so can lead to significant property damage and injuries, as seen in this crash at MO-6 and 239th St.
Drivers should always approach intersections cautiously, checking for oncoming vehicles before proceeding. Defensive driving techniques, such as reducing speed and being prepared to stop, can help prevent accidents in high-risk areas.
