Garfield, TX ( July 19, 2023) – A collision between a tanker truck and a car in Garfield, Eastern Travis County, resulted in the loss of three lives, as reported by the Texas Department of Public Safety.
The fatal incident occurred around 11:00 p.m. on Monday, July 18th, 2023, on the westbound side of State Highway 71 near Albert Brown Drive.
According to DPS, a Tahoe was attempting to cross the westbound lanes of Highway 71 to reach Albert Brown Drive.
However, the Tahoe failed to yield the right of way to the Mack tanker truck, leading to a collision where the front end struck the right side of the Tahoe.
Tragically, both drivers and the passenger of the Chevy were pronounced dead at the scene.
A third individual declined hospitalization.
The crash remains under investigation as authorities work to gather more information surrounding the incident.
