Gastonia, NC (December 9, 2024) – A tragic house fire on Grier Street in Gastonia on Sunday morning claimed the life of one woman and left several others impacted, according to Gaston County EMS officials.
Emergency crews were dispatched to the scene shortly after 11:30 a.m. Fire officials confirmed that a female victim was pronounced dead at the scene. Additionally, a man, another woman, and two children were inside the home at the time of the blaze but were able to escape without serious injuries.
A police officer who attempted to rescue the deceased woman and a firefighter involved in the response sustained minor injuries. Fortunately, neither required medical treatment. The American Red Cross is providing support and assistance to the affected residents as they cope with this devastating event.
