Putnam County, GA (July 29, 2020) – One woman lost her life and two others sustained injuries in a fatal crash that took place on a roadway in Putnam this past Monday afternoon.
According to authorities who responded to the call, the crash took place around 3:00 p.m. on 441 when an elderly couple was headed toward Washington County in their 2012 Toyota Highlander. They attempted to turn onto Bethany Church Road when they were involved in a head-on collision with a Chevy Trailblazer.
The driver of the Highlander, Robert Lewis, 84, was transported by ambulance to Piedmont Regional Hospital for treatment of serious injuries. His wife and passenger, 83-year-old Kathryn Dukes, was pronounced deceased at the scene of the crash.
There is no word on the health conditions of anyone present in the Trailblazer at this time. The current health condition of Robert Lewis also remains undisclosed, though he was alert while being transported to the hospital.
The vehicles involved in the wreck sustained serious damages and the roadway in the area was closed off for some time following the incident.
Nothing further has been released regarding the details of the collision at the present time.
